Quotes for All Saints Day...

All Saints Day, a holy day for The Roman Catholic Church, falls on
Monday, November 1, 2010 (tomorrow) this year. It is a celebration
of all the Christians who have departed and are in Heaven. Below,
I have some favorite quotes of well-known and lesser-known
Christians throughout the ages. I hope they bless you as much as
they have me. Sending out joy... Val =)

Quotes for All Saints Day

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,
what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your
body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothing?"
- Saint Matthew, Matthew: 6:25

"Whoever does not seek the cross of Christ
doesn't seek the glory of Christ."
- Saint John of the Cross

"Though the path is plain and smooth for men of good will,
he who walks it will not travel far, and will do so only with
difficulty, if he does not have good feet: that is,
courage and a persevering spirit."
- Saint John of the Cross

"Be sure that you first preach by the way you live.
If you do not, people will notice that you say one thing,
but live otherwise, and your words will bring only cynical
laughter and a derisive shake of the head."
- Saint Charles Borromeo

"One single act done with dryness of spirit is worth
more than many done with feelings of devotion."
- Saint Francis de Sales

"You can win more converts with a spoonful of honey
than with a barrelful of vinegar."
- Saint Francis de Sales

"One must not think that a person who is suffering
is not praying. He is offering up his sufferings to God,
and many a time he is praying much more truly than one
who goes away by himself and meditates his head off, and,
if he has squeezed out a few tears, thinks that is prayer."
- Saint Teresa of Avila

"Suffering is a great favor. Remember that everything
soon comes to an end... and take courage.
Think of how our gain is eternal."
- Saint Teresa of Avila

"Leave sadness to those in the world.
We who work for God should be light-hearted."
- Saint Leonard of Port Maurice

"The recollection of an injury is...
a rusty arrow and poison for the soul."
- Saint Francis of Paola

"For pity's sake,
don't start meeting troubles halfway."
- Saint Teresa of Avila

- Thank  you, Krissy =)

  1. I usually, at this point in your comment section, say which of your items I like the best. I, however, can't do that this time, as all these saint quotes are so absolutely beautiful, and one is so absolutely beautiful as the next that I merely can't choose one above another. I just want to say thank you for posting this today, Valerie. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you richly. May you praise Him in Heaven one day with all the other saints forever! Glory be to God, now and forever, world without end, Amen!

  3. My favorite is the honey and vinagar. Too much vinegar, not enough honey.
