3 Hairs
There was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today."
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw that she had
only two hairs on her head.
"Hmmm," she said, "I think I'll part my hair today."
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had
only one hair on her head.
"Well," she said, "today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that there
wasn't a single hair on her head.
"YAY!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
Attitude is everything! It can make or break your day. Everyone you come
in contact with is fighting battles like you. Let's take care of one another.
And don't forget to take care of yourself!

Thanks for posting on Cancer Awareness. It's very important. And I absolutely love the poem "3 Hairs." It takes a light-hearted approach, which we all need at times. I also posted the poem in my blog today (April 24, 2010): Sometimes I Think
ReplyDeleteI asked three cancer survivors before I posted it if it would be okay to post and they said they felt it would be fine, and non-offensive to cancer survivors/patients. Each thought it was hilarious. I hope I didn't offend anybody by posting the poem -- I guess perhaps it depends on where the cancer survivor is in their recovery on how each will take it. Anyway, those who I showed it to didn't anticipate the punchline and thought it was hilarious! And they did say ATTITUDE did mean so much! Anyway, Val thanks again for posting!
One final thought. Besides Lymphoma, which I can see is represented by a Green Cancer Awareness Ribbon, my husband John, as you know, also had Bone Marrow Cancer. What color Cancer Awareness Ribbon is represented by Bone Marrow Cancer? Thanks for leaving the answer in this comment section if you know the answer. :)
