  2. My favorite quote about fear comes from the Bible and is simply "Be not afraid." That was Pope John Paul II's favorite Scripture, and he quoted it everywhere he went. He even wrote an encyclical (letter or article) on "Be not afraid."

In the Bible "Be not afraid." was spoken thusly:

God to Abraham in Genesis 46:3

The Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary in Luke 1:30

The Archangel Gabriel to Zechariah (father of John the Baptist) in Luke 1:13

The angels to the shepherds at Christmas in Luke 2:10

    and most importantly:

Christ Himself in Matthew 14:27, Mark 6:50, Luke 12:4, and John 6:20

Remember when you are frightened, that Jesus says, "Be not afraid," you Christian!

  4. Val, My Mom's favorite scripture was Pslam 46. It was one of those we had read at her funeral.

For me, I like the John Wayne quote and also the Eleanor Roosevelt one--they deal with facing fear and going forward anyway....lately I have had to do a lot of that. I know you have seen adversity in your life and so you too know that fear can paralyze you if you (we) let it. Love ya, Merry
